IE8 edges closer

IE8 also introduces "InPrivate Browsing" which, when switched on, doesn't store the browsing history and other telltale signs such as cookies.

If that's true, some websites may not function properly for the user if no interaction is allowed between server and user during the session. In Firefox the Distrust add-on does the same job but once Distrust is de-activated it simply deletes the history for that 'distrust' session *afterwards* in order to prevent the next user on the computer from seeing which sites you've visited.

Despite being a FF user I must say this new IE doesnt sound too bad...

Sound being the operative word of course.. This is a M$ product, don't touch it until at least service pack 3.
I dont think internet browsers get service packs....
And I have XP sp3 so thats covered...
Can I touch it now?

I hope he was joking anyway.

IE 8 actually doesn't sound too bad. Always nice to have a slighty better backup for when I have to use it.

Using a beta version of Internet Explorer is just too frightening for me. I'm already using Vista.

They can make it identical to Firefox if they want to, but they still won't have the massive community development that only FF has.

"IE8 edges closer" ... to what?

obscurity? irrelevance? loss of market share? lack of standards conformity?

If it were not for every ignorant company on the planet forcing people to use this airbag of a program, it would have 0.01% market share. Hey... even some fake anti-virus malware programs were more friendly to use than IE7! I really hope IE8 at least brings it into the 19th century.

I don't see any reason why one would want to switch to IE....they are always trailing/copying FF anyway.

IE intros Tab browsing...FF already had it for ages.
IE intros a Smart bar...FF already had it
IE intros pr0n friendly features...FF already has "clear all history" since like FF1

IE is pretty much the most frequently patched part of the OS. IE gets regular security update packs because there are so many patches....

lack of standards conformity?
IE8 is pretty much the most standard conforming MS browser so far.

Who in turn copies Opera with a number of things :p

I never liked ff :( it always seems to crash for me and now ff 3 seems to big and bulky, Opera works fine though.

IE8

So many browsers, so many views. I personally like IE8.

I've been using IE8 Beta for some time now, but ALWAYS in IE7 emulation mode ... not too bad

Javascript debugging

Beta 2 is dodgy but the Javascript debugging feature makes it all worth it ...
Set Breakpoints in Javascript, yes please!!

Ditto. Opera's still my first choice although I'm not to keen on how it handles pop-ups and the occasional website is still buggy. Opera starts and browses really fast though. FIrefox 3 is my second choice. It just irritates me having to wait for the addons to update before I can browse. IE8 is for windows updates.
