If the LFG tool doesn't work for you as a DPS because you moan about waiting too long, then WHY is it usually the DPS is the ones not to come to the dungeon??

Perhaps because they have being waiting for a long time and might be alt tabbed an hour later when the screen pops up for 20 seconds... or are deeply involved in a quest they cant just leave. Since the tanks and healers go right in.. the DPS... get bored waiting and start questing.

I know I have done this a bit.

I dont wait long, if its off hours and groups are not moving forward, I go heal with my shammy, if its not... then its DPS.

What I have learnt is about 60% of the tanks out there dont know how to tank or wear dps gear and think they can tank. Annoys me cause I go OOM fast :(

I check the option to enable sounds when Wow is in the background - then get on with something else until the party is ready.

Most of the time i think I'll do the same because I was waiting for ages (2 minutes and have nothing to do) and the second I get busy doing something I get the notification ^^

You don't perhaps play a Warrior tank on Dentarg, hmm? :p

reason I'm asking is because we had that happen last night. I was in a group already with a Warrior tank and waiting for peeps to join and it's the DPS that keep declining >.<

Needless to say, we didn't wait long for the next one to get in, so his loss tbh :D

What I have learnt
You're probably pugging normals and not heroics. The acceptable tanks, the ones who want their frost emblems or maybe triumph, are going to be doing HC's. The noobs with bad gear will be doing normals.

Well with my shaman I am... but one would think after 70+ levels of playing the game you would have the slightest clue on how to play your class. I now have my shammy well down in both her healing and DPS. She does more dps than just about everyone but mages in the normal instances I run.

Nope, I play a healer on Kilrogg

Well yes, levelling with tank specs is certainly how warriors, paladins, druids and death knights level up.

Have you actually ever tried levelling and playing a tank?

Yup, I am working on a Prot Pally, but I get bored of playing it and find the shammy more fun at the moment, once my shammy is leveled and kitted out I will finish leveling the pally.

I know enough to know that my tank doesnt really need attack power or crits, it needs defense rating and dodge. I know the get strength + stamina items. I also know enough about my pally not to dress it in cloth items (swear to God.. came across a DK "tank" the other day wearing cloth items)... I quit that group... and this is at level 70+!!!!

So many "Tanks" come in as a tank dressed in dps gear.

Oh. A prot pally.

Welcome to World of Warcraft EZMode.

Up to a point. Threat becomes more and more important. Trying to hold aggro against a mob with a warlock in ilvl245/251+ gear, when you've geared purely for avoidance/mit/stam, is going to to make you tear your hair out. I usually run with my dps relic and possibly trinkets in 5mans if the dps is huge, if it's low i'll switch to stam trinkets and relic. And if you can hold threat on a raid boss so your dps can go all out, becomes vital. So, keeping an eye on your hit and expertise and trying to keep them capped or as close to as possible, becomes pretty important too.

Not always a bad thing. I was in a group once with a Prot spec Pala, but in mostly ret gear and we did well and he was 2nd best DPS :p

It all depends on the level of gear and what heroic you're doing. This one was CoS hc. Which is cake.
