Neighbour took his MacBook to a Mac repairer (not iStore or Digicape) in May in Bellville
The machine was not turning on
The initial fault was diagnosed to be the logic board and an exchange was authorised
When the logic board was replaced (this took 2 weeks) then a short was discovered on the screen
A new screen was supposed to have been fitted
Today is exactly 3 months to the day when the machine was handed in. He has a receipt with the serial number recorded
The repairer provides differing excuses why it is not finished and will not give a final price
He has been to the shop and spoken to a receptionist who will not let him speak to a technician
He was given the email address of the manager. Emails are not replied to
I enquired on his behalf. No-one phoned back as promised
The SAPS tell him that since the machine was handed in willingly and there is no proof of theft, they cannot get involved
The computer is valued at about R20 000
Any suggestions? Not stupid ones please
