If you could - Manufacturing

Ya wanna make a thing - make it disposable, with a planned obsolescence of less than a month.
Make em cheap and get volume out .......

Like disposable masks, shidt paper, paper bags or any bulk packaging, non woven wipes, non woven gloves.

Now I'm a union man
Amazed at what I am
I say what I think, that the company stinks
Yes I'm a union man
When we meet in the local hall
I'll be voting with them all
With a hell of a shout, it's "Out brothers, out!"
And the rise of the factory's fall
Oh, you don't get me, I'm part of the union
You don't get me, I'm part of the union
You don't get me, I'm part of the union
Until the day I die, until the day I die
As a union man I'm wise
To the lies of the company spies
And I don't get fooled by the factory rules
'Cause I always read between the lines
And I always get my way
If I strike for higher pay
When I show my card to the Scotland Yard
And this is what I say

catalytic converters and then bribe government to ban exports of PGMs

labour laws first off , no such thing in china .
The weekend mentality of the west , China do not have that Sunday is a rest/holy day , our christian background .
They will work every day and all hours and if the worker do not like it they are out next .
The west do not stand a chance in competing .
That all isn't really true anymore as more and more of the manufacturing plants becomes automated and they need higher skilled labor. The cost is slightly more than South African labor. (Dependent on exact region, but SA is competitive)

The main reason the world hasn't moved away is because building those plants and supply lines is quite expensive.

Why has South Africa failed?
Labor cost? No, our labor costs are about the same if not slightly less than China's coast.

The main reasons are:
- electricity supply
- strike/worker mentality
- not enough engineers
- unfavorable government laws
- what supply lines? No real functioning railway

There's a reason a lot of manufacturing is returning to the US, and no, it's not because Trump gave tax benefits, it's mostly because there are a lot of skilled engineers there and that's the most difficult thing to come by. China also has a lot of skilled people, a lot of it having to do with the size of the population.

So what would the pros be ? I only seen con mostly caused by government policy . The most successful manufacture programs in sa have no Bee partners . The German car manufactures laughed when said there is Bee and said would rather go somewhere else Instead if they enforced Bee

Interesting comments!!

I done a bit of a dive regarding the topic and yes we might not be in the best position regarding manufacturing but it still makes a big chunk of our GDP...

Steel - dying sector due to the slowdown in infrastructure, saturated market although still very local.

Rubber - saturated

Plastic - saturated

Glass - saturated

Clothing - imported

Technology (chips ect) imported

Motor cars and parts - not a bad market my opinion - imported

Food - saturated

And when i say saturated my view is the pie is getting smaller and monopolies getting larger very hard to start up in the above markets ... and imported we cannot match prices or quality

China is set to overtake the states soon as the next economic powerhouse and its all thanks to their manufacturing capabilities. It is driving their economy and an incredible pace

Corruption, lack of expertise and lack of funding are all valid.

I would get into renewable energies if i could manufacturing of solar, wind and other supporting equipment to help build cheap sustainable energy.
