hi there,

Firstly, I have searched and read through the other threads about ikonic IT on this forum

I made a purchase from iKonic IT last Thursday and the EFT cleared on the Monday (9th). Stock was also confirmed (via email). Status since then has simply been "payment received". I've emailed them about three times and also submitted a comment on my order on the in-site system. No response to any of these. The only reason why I didn't phone in is that the item is not urgently needed and I assumed they would get to it sometime within the week. But now the week has ended and I have received no correspondence from them. Also feel like an idiot for not phoning.

I did see on their site that there was a special message about them moving premises, which probably explains the delay - the message has now been replaced with "Our phones are down. We are working on fixing this!".

Anyway, I am a bit worried about it now and I just wanted to make a post here to ask if anyone has had a similar experience in the last couple of days or is also struggling to contact them at the moment.
 
I know the guys from Ikonic as we supply them some of their stock. They are definately still around but as their site says they did just move to a new store so this is probably why there has been a delay.

If you send me a PM with your order number I will speak to them on Monday and ask them to follow up for you.
 
Yeah also tried to get in contact with them, but after a few days of struggling finally got a hold of them. Apparently telkom hasn't installed there phone lines so they have no internet and no phone line.
 
I'm scared of buying from Ikonic IT, I've contacted them in the past about some of their items and they just never reply. Or I'd contact them asking about a special product, where another shop will get back to me quickly Ikonic would take their time and sometimes not even reply. This was before they moved. I'm really not impressed with them, which makes me sad because I'd love to support a shop with such good prices.
 
Yep. I had a choice between them, Rebeltech, Wootwaare, Prophecy, and PCint.
I did send them emails in the past and they never responded.
I eventually went with Rebeltech because of the price and service.
 
Had good service from them at the beginning of last year, but then when I wanted to order stuff towards the middle of the year, they just never responded to emails. So, no more business from me.

I've used Ikonic a couple of times. Some of the times there was delays, other times, none. Some tips, never pay before they say there is stock though.
 
Well their website still says their phones are down. I see they have added a cellphone number as well on the top right of the home page, which I also tried - straight to voicemail. So I tried both numbers and also sent through another email.

I don't really mind the delay, just quite disappointed that they have not contacted me to tell me what is going on.

They confirmed stock with me via email about 2 weeks before, I probably should have sent another email through asking for stock again but I didn't think it would be a problem at the time. Dates from my gmail: 5 May, stock has been confirmed. 9 May, payment has been received.

Sent about 5 mails and phoned since then. If I have screwed up the process by depositing just before then that is my fault :( Still doesn't explain not replying/contacting me for a week though. I will update if anything happens.
 
ok managed to get through on the cell number. They have apparently had massive issues with telkom, which is understandable. I'll sort it out on my own from here, thanks for the people who have given help/advice.

I don't know Rainy, could you tell us of your previous sales experience with them? I've asked them about 7 times for some items and they just never get back. And they way they reacted to my questions and requests just pushed me away from them. Yes their prices are good, and the website is a really good one. They just disappoint me every time I ask something, so I go to Nivo or take2 or rebeltech, wootware or LibertasPC... Can't think of any more people.
 
OK just to update:

Got my order this (tuesday) morning after it was sent on Monday morning. Everything in working order, also got a follow up email.

Last year I used them, had brilliant service. Bought three items, deposited my money on the Thursday and they were delivered on Friday morning (in Durban).

In summary, I had to wait 8 days / 6 working days from the monday when my deposit cleared. There were definitely unusual circumstances though, with them moving shop and having telkom issues.

So Yes, I would use them again, their prices are great and they've always been friendly. Probably wouldn't use them if I needed something urgently though, but I wouldn't trust any online store in that situation, would rather just go and buy it from a local PC store.
