Im not sure about this Palmino guy... racing bikes against cars and cleaning sweeping sand of the road during the day seems a bit dweeby to me...

But its human nature to look back on how stupid you were when you were younger... surely you did some stupid things aswell?
Drag racing, drugs, underage drinking etc all falls in the same category imo.

no, of course not he is one of the holier-than-thou :D

What speed you were fined at is irrelevant - try stop your car on a wet road going 92 in an 80 zone. Breaking the speed limit is breaking the speed limit.

Going 92 in an 80 zone is the same as going 138 in a 120 zone.

I"m fine with illegal drag racing when all they're doing is risking themselves - its their lives after all - I don't like these idiots that do it in residitential area's where anything could happen...

X, you apparently seem to be missing the point TOTALLY! Which is understandable really from anyone who says they are fine with ILLEGAL racing.

Are you trying to tell me my car won't stop if I am going 92 in an 80 zone in the wet? Well I have news for you, I can! Going 92 in an 80 zone is not at all like going 138 in a 120! It does not take much of a brain to realise that your stopping distance will be a lot greater when doing 138. The fact that the 80 zone in question also happens to be a four lane highway heading into Durban which is lined with about 20 metre high side wall embankments further lends weight to my argument as there is no way the speed limit should be 80 there!

Please stop just trying to argue for the sake of arguing and keep to the topic at hand. Yes, I brought those up as the poster claimed that no one is innocent but my point, which is still valid, is that doing 92 is not nearly the same as hitting speeds of 180, and no doubt more, while drag racing!!

If you would like to have a nice one on one personal argument with me then feel free to start a thread where we can be free of mod intervention and we can let rip!

**** what a sad world we live in were it is assumed that everyone has to have done something in their lives that had endangered someone else's life deliberately!

I have never drag raced, I have not done drugs, I never touched a drink before the age of 19. So if these make me holier than though in some people's eyes then so be it but I'd prefer to think of that as normal behaviour. As I say it is a sad world if that is not....

i see, so if you kill someone by going yourself over the speed limit its cool, but heavens forbid if you killed someone by dicing, right ?

PLEASE!!! I cannot "argue" with people who put going 92 into the same category as going 200 on a public road... while racing another car! Are you really stupid enough to think that I am endangering lives as much as street racers are?

Even if I were to go 130 by myself it is not the same as flooring it and having your concentration affected by the fact that you are keeping half an eye on someone else you are racing.

Fair enough.
Did you ever run with scissors when you were younger?

Did you ever run with scissors when you were younger?

Why would you be idiotic enough to do that? And what reason would you have to run with them? When have you ever been in a situation where the thing you wanted to cut had to be done within a certain time frame?

I realise you are being sarcastic or trying to be over the top but that would endanger my life not that of others. Unless of course you are making the assumption that I'd be running with them in a crowded room which would definitely not be sensible....

...perhaps I should phone my parents and thank them for bringing me up properly...

I'm afraid that selective quoting of someone does not show anything or help anyone understand.

You should perhaps have bolded the following term and it might have opened your eyes to the actual meaning :

my eyes are fine, i don't need bold text to read properly. you seem to have a hard time following your own words.

let me rephrase with help added

for you its ok IF you go fast by yourself, but it is wrong when you go fast (thats if you go fast) with or againts someone

Um, it's not your eyes that are the problem... it seems to be the link between there and the brain that has a problem.....

STREET RACING AT 200KM/H IS NOT AT ALL COMPARABLE TO GOING 130..... in fact if you were going 130 on your speedometer your would not be fined anyway as in all likelihood your real speed would be closer to 120! And if you require further material to prove how fruitless your arguing is, in most provinces you would not get fined unless you are going over 130 in a 120 zone!

Necuno, you are sad. Even when presented with the facts you are unable to accept them. Oh well....

It is not LancelotSA that says so, it is the law, it is everyone besides Necuno!!

Have fun with your fruitless arguments going forward... or better still, go and drag race on a rainy day with slick tyres and oily roads... please just make sure it is a deserted road.

Seriously - how old are you, two?

Breaking the law is breaking the law. The stopping distance required increases with speed, yes, of course you can stop, you're just going to need a longer distance, hence one of the purposes of speed limits, it doesn't take half a brain to figure that out. You seem to be missing the point. You're saying you're a better driver than someone who breaks the speed limit at 120 because you only break it at 90 - get a life  How can one person (you) be allowed to break the speed limit, because you consider it safe, and another person, the drag racer, not be allowed to, because according to you, its not safe. BOTH are illegal, and unsafe.

I didn't say I condone drag racing, I said as long as you're only risking your own life, I'm fine with it - learn to read. Same as jumping out of an plane, binge drinking, smoking - its your life.

BTW - if you don't like my posts. ignore them? There's even an ignore function on the site, use it - this is a public forum, and I'll comment where I see fit - no need for you to go off like a two year old.

Scariest driving I have ever done: "racing" on the Autobahn at 160, and having 18-wheeler trucks thundering past! :p

Personal top? Approx 210, on said autobahn... ;)

You try and defend what you have said by saying that you admitted that you were younger and more irresponsible yet you are still being irresponsible by trying to glamorise the whole illegal drag racing stupidity.

Glamorise? Defend? Where? Are you insane? I reported phenomena that occurred in my ‘younger and more irresponsible days’ that I sometimes took part in. It existed; there was nothing I could do to stop it. Doesn’t mean I approved. Don’t indulge in weasely semantic trickery and ascribe attitudes to me that you are in a dudgeon about. I should not be the object of your crusading. Your POV should be independent of me.

i've done related street dices, but it's not wise to do so- rather go via proper race trek.

Yeah, sure. Drink your milk, eat your vegetables and don’t smoke. As long as there are testosterone-addled adolescents with fast machinery, illegal racing will happen. Natural law. If the machinery didn’t exist, there would be something equally stupid. Wars are popular with testosterone-addled youth. Politicians know this.

What are you not sure about? Bikes against cars, bikes against bikes, cars against cars...The merits of the vehicles were discussed, the form of the drivers, wagers were laid. Pontiac Trans-Am (popular) / Corvette engine equipped nitrous oxide boosted home-brew / Kawasaki 2-stroke triple (fast in a straight line) / Porsche turbo, etc.

I rode a Honda 750cc K0. Not the fastest (pretty mediocre in that company) and there were vehicles which would have wiped the floor with me.
