i'm being robbed?

just got iburst installed, works great, but when i am idle it still downloads at bursts of like 5kb and 20kb a second. there's no spyware. why could this be happening?

You might have your windows auto-update enabled. You can check by going to 'Start - Control Panel - System' then select the Automatic updates tab.

Definately turn off Windows Update, after that make shure that it wasnt just some apps updating (AV, firewall etc.)

Doubt 5-20kb could be port scanning.

SO what does Netlimiter say?

btw.. is that 5-20KILOBYTES or Kilobits?

Install a firewall and only let through what you need. Disable Windows Updater. You can download these updates from http://www.softwarepatch.com and write them to a disk for future uses and backups

There is a lovely app called ethereal - a port sniffer. Simply install this & analyse these strange packets.
