I have always updated my iOS and apps directly on my phone.

Today I thought I would give it a try through iTunes on the notebook. The iOS downloaded and I could update the handset, no problem.

I had a few Apps that needed to be updated, downloaded them and then synced. iTunes made a backup but didn't transfer the newer version of the apps to the phone, so the phone still indicates that the apps need to be updated.

Where am I missing the trick?

Thanks

I had a similar experience: updated apps that specified they needed it, via iTunes on my laptop, synced to phone and the phone still shows that I have apps that need updating. Could have something to do with:

-I'm still on iOS 9.3.3 - reason jailbreak.
-Apple introduced something call 'app thinning' so you don't have to d/l all versions (ie ipad, iphone etc) of apps and updates. This means you can't update the apps directly on your phone and then sync them back to your PC/laptop, as is my habit.

I'm utterly confused now but all my apps work as they should so I'll have a go at figuring it out over the weekend.

I downloaded the iPhone and iPad apps so notebook has the latest of everything. Will see if somebody comes up with the trick :-)
