Thank goodness - released from the Telkom yoke :D

Big word of thanks to the 155 staff - after a few minor hiccups I'm connected !!!

Picked up my 3G card at VodaWorld

Agreed ic. I sat for a few days reading this particular forum b4 making the choice to go for Vodacom 3g and I have no regrets. :)

Which specific shop did you get the card from? And is it the Novatel card?

Got it from Vodacom Active @ Teljoy .

It's the Novatel Quad Lite .

Thanks all for making this a brilliant forum :)

RompelStompel, but you're not saying that it's faster than Telkom ADSL are you?

Previously only had dial-up access to the net - ADSL was not available :(

Recently moved and got 3G due to the convenience - trust me , 3G is way faster than my previous dial-up :)

ok I see, yes, the 3G is quite a lot slower than ADSL 512.

Goodgirl, theoretically, 3G is slower than DSL512, but in practice that is not always the case. Somedays, even a dial-up seems faster than DSL 512. The largest advantage to 3G compared to DSL is the mobility and the fallback to GPRS - even though this may be a bit slow. This is more than any other network (other than MTN) can offer. Iburst, Sentech and Telkom all have limits of either being a wired link (DSL) or when out of coverage areas, you have no link (Iburst and Sentech).
