I'm curious: Low cost tablet options for e-reading?

I mean basic tablet functionality and of course e-reading like huisenoot. Yes not for me, just wondering what the options are...

lol...

Not sure what qualifies as low cost but I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7". It was R1500.

For reading ebooks it's perfect, I've gone through quite a few books lately and it works perfectly.

As for reading magazines I'm not too sure, a 7" might be a bit small for magazines so possibly need to consider a 10".

Kalahari has the Gobii e-reader & tab, but I find reading mags (esp. PDF ones) an impossibility on that format.

That's pretty much what I thought, at least 10" but it doesn't need to be "as powerful". Enough to do basic things and read a few magazines.

Don't think the Gobii will do well with something like the National Geographic.

Kindle? easy on the eyes but not for magazines if color is your thing.

Don't know the kindle at all. How is it in general ?

the eink screen is much easier on the eyes and battery last for a month or something. can also read in full sunlight but it is black and white, so great for articles, but not so great for photos

OP, get a cheap tablet from China that has a good resolution as I think it will suit your needs

Nothing will do well with National Geographic as a South African in South Africa - you cannot buy the e-version of National Geographic...
