Im a new adsl user so my query might sound rather rediculous. However...I reseaved the adsl and it was installed by telkom, but my "isp"(if you can call it that) is at mweb. I spesifically asked them if i will omly have a international CAP and they said yes.

Now i reseeve an e-mail that sais im close to my cap limit and if i go over my limit telkom will discontineu my adsl usage intirely untill the next month, i will have to use 56k if i want to use the internet.

If i have a sertain package at telkom, does the mweb isp effect it...and if so?why then does mweb tell me that its telkom thats going to cap me(internationally&locally)...Can someone please give me advise on who i should talk to to make SURE that im only capped internationally?

I'm sure the cap only applies to international, but I suggest you post a
from the email (remove username stuff first though), then people can comment on the meaning of the email.

More info.

You say you are with MWeb. Ok.

Which Account did you buy? 3, 6 or 9 gigs.
How long have you had your connection? I want to see why you are capped.
Which ADSL product are you renting from Telkom? 512 or 384 ADSL.
What modem are you using?

Your query on the Cap is confusing.
Basically, when you reach your account limit mentioned above, then Telkom will put you onto another set of IP's that are shared heavily by other users that are capped. This makes your international browsing virtually useless, but local traffic is unaffected, like your Mail and local browsing.

What you can do is also phone MWeb‘s O800 number and ask them, but take it from us, your local speed should still be the same.
It is just how many local sites do you browse?

He may be on that 2 GB cap thingy which cuts you off completely after being capped AFAIK.

Foxhound I suggest you retype your entire post in intelligible English where after we may be able to help you.

I think we all can agree that the cap is most likely only on International. It would be odd if his local speeds were to be affected as much as his intl speeds would. His service would be useless.

Cheers
Ant

It is possible he has the 2GB account, which means after he reaches the 2GB he will have no access whatsoever (no local or international) - as Harth said above.
