I just checked my stats on SAIX and I have used 3.6435 GB on my 3 Gig Telkom account this month:eek:

I am sooo sorry. I really tried to stay withing the cap but I must have been neglectful. I would like to formally apologise to all and sundry for being an abuser.

BLASPEMY, becos of u every other adsl user in this country has to suffer and survive with 0.00000000000000001gb less over their cap (",)
but ur forgiven

LOL. If someone explains how to get torrents working ill blow this cap out the water. I get it working but it just downloads soooo slowwwww thanks to shaping.

And here I'm struggling to get to use up my 30Gig AllYouCanEat account, I suck at leeching (heheh, funneh!). The closest I managed to come to hitting it was 23 gigs.

*hangs head low in shame*

Get Bitcomet or uTorrent and use port forwarding on your router.. www.portforward.com

Well hopefully you've learnt your lesson now and there wont be a repeat next month :p :D

Freshy-ZN, TheYak,

I would love to send you more details and links to get around the port shaping of torrents, but my IS ADSL is so pathetic slow at the moment.

Some of the newer Torrent clients can tunnel P2P traffic through the HTTPS protocol, which is not shaped as severely as P2P ports. And there is no way a Layer7 bandwidth shaper/firewall can look into this packets to see the contents, because it is encrypted. And the ISP will not severely shape or block HTTPS port 443, because then your secure online banking would not work.

Maybe the other members can help out more with details.

Thanks for the port forwarding hints. Going to look into it. Lets see what happens next month but im going away for 2 weeks so might not hit the roof.

Torrents are not worth the trouble, unless you simply cannot get the files on a news server.

IS users - news.is.co.za
SAIX users with large cap accounts - easynews or giganews etc.
