I am in need of a upgrade from a white 13 inch

Starting to get a big sluggish with the high mp camera's and hd video editing :(

Now im trying to decide which would be a better option

iMac 24-inch 2.93GHz - R22 000
2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB memory
640GB hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 256MB memory

or

MacBook Pro 15-inch: 2.66GHz R21499
Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Memory
320GB hard drive
SD card slot
Built-in 7-hour battery
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB
Glossy screen

The main thing that is getting me is the screen cards, where the Imac shares the same gt120 as the mac pro just with less memory

WWYC - what would you choose
bear in mind i have a macbook 13 to carry around with me so it doesnt HAVE to be a laptop

Hi

I was in the same boat a couple of months ago. I had a Powerbook G4 and needed to upgrade. I opted for the iMac 24" and I am more than happy with my choice, the screen is fantastic for video and image editing, and I use my Powerbook if I need a portable option, although, working on my powerbook I find frustratingly slow since I've got used to the iMac.

Take the iMac. Not sure whether the applications you are using are CUDA aware, but the machine with the best graphics card would be the best option.

I would trade at least one of my man parts for the iMac

Kind Regards

I have a mid 2007 Aluminum iMac...it may not be the newest, but damn, it's great to have a 24" screen and an uncluttered desktop!

Would recommend it to anyone anyday!

iMac may be the better choice.
Make sure you get Me.com or another sync solution or you're gonna tear out your hair trying to share data between the desktop and laptop.
