Hi there,

I've just signed up with Imagine, I don't know if this is normal, but I'm only getting 1.9k/s internationally. Dialup would be faster... anyone else getting the same problem?

At this rate I'd rather go back to a telkom account, at least then I got 45k/s when I downloaded...

Experience the same problem

Just registered on Imagine and get exactly the same problem. Download speed 1.8 kb/s
With this speed – I think the Anti-Trust option is better

I also signed up today and I found that this morning the international sites were really slow and later on it improved a lot and then slowed down again. It's not cool and I hope it is a very temporary problem because I really need uncapped internet. I did find that the more connections you open the better the speed so if I used download accelerator with 8 connections I got a speed close to what I'm used too on a SAIX based isp. This solution obviously can't help slow browsing. Maybe they didn't anticipate so many defectors on one day.

I've also had horrible international connectivity.

I'm on the 1024KB Package.

Local
Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

Download time: 4.781 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 853.4 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 104.6 (kiloBytes/second)

WinUpdate site takes about 5 minutes and then it doesn't load properly, I also download from Easynews which I'm getting 1.2k transfer from at the moment.

...had the same yesterday, but seems to be fine now - it is up and down at the moment - should improve over the next day or so - p2p is flying though and it only seems to be http...

I got a solution and seems to work. Just install Firefox "necko" or higher, its definitely the reason I dont get the http IS slowdowns that some users experience atm.

goto about:config in the url tab, then look for the following lines:

network.http.pipelining and set it to true
network.http.pipelining.max.requests and set it to 24
network.http.max-connections-per-server and set it to 24

This definitely solves the slower per connection HTTP access.

IS did have a few hiccups on their international proxies. At was very much location based, with most of our clients reporting excellent international speeds, but a few unfortunatley experiencing bad throughput.

We have been communicated with the IS ADSL product manager and senior technicians, and the speed issues have been resolved. Local access remained faster throught the period.

IS are also going to be upgrading their international by February, adding three times more bandwidth and added redundancy.

Sorry for the hassles guys

Hi Glipsie

Are you with Imagine IPS? If so, can you please PM me your username so I can take it further asap.

Yup.. thanks Imagine... I'm all fast again :) Very happy to be staying away from Telskum as much as possible ... maybe one day they'll go bang... imagine the headlines.... "Telkom files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy" ... we can all dream.. hehe

Now lets see if I can make that 2gig cap last... somehow...

Cheers!

Sorry missed this thread. No I am not an imagine customer, I do have an IS account though. At the time I had problems with big sites (cnn, alexa etc). Things were fast today so I assume they're sorted out their problems now
