I've been a loyal Imaginet customer since mid January.

I hada shaped account since I work for a US company in NY and do remote desktop over vpn and unshaped is the only thing that worked reasonable well.

Well, they "forgot" to bill me for January, so they say and recently I received e-mails that state: ADSL Recovery. In short they claim there was a problem with their billing system and they didn't charge me for all the data I downloaded and according to the user agreement I agreed upon, I am responsible for all data usage. Fair enough, but don't screw up and then try to screw me 6 months down the line.

I had a 2GB unshaped account from mid Jan to mid Jun and then switched to 4GB shaped as I am now using citrix metaframe and it doesn't get shaped to death like my vpn software was.

Here's all the deductions they made:
2006-02-06 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH 1945350 IMAGINET R 273.61-2006-03-08 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH 2057678 IMAGINET R 273.61-
2006-04-07 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH 2182529 IMAGINET R 519.84-
2006-05-12 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH 2349547 IMAGINET R 504.45-
2006-06-07 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH 2490042 IMAGINET R 843.03-

As if this wasn't enought, I just recevied a debit order notice for more than R1,000

If your cash flow is important to you, stay away from Imaginet. They seemed a nice bunch of people, but they're not much better than Thswane municipality that "forgot" to send statements and then double billed me the next month.

Have they resolved the above problem for you techworker?

"Yes" by recovering more than R1000 from me

I cancelled my account and I'm looking for a new ISP. I'm contemplating turning my iBurst on again.

I only need an ISP for August and then until 8th Sept.

We've sold our house and we're moving back to the USA, where our lives are worth more than a cell phone or couple of rands.

And btw, I'll be enjoying uncapped unshaped 8mbps (or more!) cable or adsl internet for around $30 per month. And unlimited WORLD calling for $49 per month - http://www.telphin.com/unlimworld.php

Just because you're an INTERNET NOOB and changed accounts, ALL OF A SUDDEN VERIZON IS GODLIKE!

I get max speeds on my ADSL doesn't matter WHAT account I use. SAIX / VERIZON / IS
Lol@Jeeva - please enlighten the rest of the forumites how all accounts are equal.
IS uses satellite... please help me to get better latency over Satellite, since you are not a NOOB.
Also, please help me unshape SAIX shaped without additional services.
One last one... please help me put less into Telkom's pocket while using SAIX.
Thanks!
We all would appreciate your feedback oh not so NOOB one.

Latency has nothing to do with bandwith, n00b lol!

e.g.

You can have a 4mbps V-SAT connection @ 1200ms ping downloading at 500kB/ps and then you can also have 4mbps ADSL1 @ 7ms ping downloading at 500kB/ps.

And I wasnt' refering the using the cable connection for better international pings, i was refering to you posting on all teh forums how "YOU GET MAX SPEEDS ON VERIZON", period.

Use Verizon business - brilliant low latency - international over fibre, unshaped, etc.

R11 per meg at http://www.nurve.co.za/
Cheers
Where does he say anything about him getting "MAX SPEEDS ON VERIZON"

Nowhere does he refer to them being "GODLIKE" either

Just because in your little mind you think you're better than everyone else doesn't mean you are, or that anyone who's nick isn't Jeeva must be a 'n00b'.

Hell, maybe someone doesn't know much, and can be considered a 'n00b', but you were once one aswell, so no need to bo so arrogant the whole time

To show their total lack of customer service and professionalism, they disconnected me this morning with more than 500MB left of my cap with no warning.

I called in earlier to ask about my account which no longer appeared on their stats page and they assured me I have more than 500MB left of my cap.

Luckily I smelt a rat and signed up with WebAfrica pre-paid ADSL while I still had access (what a breeze, it all worked and in a matter of minutes I had my user name and password, no human interaraction required all done on-line. Great JOB WebAfrica, I wish I had been with you from the start!).

I had just finished signing up with web africa and just received my account details when Imaginet suspended my account with more than 500MB left to spare. I called their service desk and they said try in 10 minutes. I gave up after 30 and I'm counting the 500MB loss - I could have downloaded a Stargate Atlantis episode, season 3 started last Friday in the US.

Just checked account was re-instated, probably don't have enough time to use the remaining 500MB until midnight, will try to download Stargate Atlantis S03E01 until I either run out of cap or time.

Imaginet billed me for cap i havent used and added a service without consulting me, canceled my account and went to Openweb, very nice system they got running. Imaginet for the lose

I bought my hosting and domains from Imaginet hosting and all was fine until I decided to move to my own servers because they treated me like rubbish they don't care about you but themselves. The major problem rised when I decided to cancel my hosting with them. I requested an invoice of all the money I owed them so that I pay before I leave them. I paid and I received an email saying confirm that you are cancelling your hosting. Then I replied, I confirm. After 2 months I received an email saying you owe us and we have suspended your domains. What can I do Guys.
