Since I don't see one around on the forum, I started one myself :)

I'm sure there are people on here that use their service, so how about telling a bit about your experience on their network?

I just nabbed one of their free 5GB promo accounts and look forward to testing it out and hope to move over to their uncapped service. Price looks good.

Imaginet does not have their own network, they are just bandwidth resellers.

They have an uncapped service/still exists as a company?

lol Yeah, still going strong. On the IS backbone and the best customer service you're going to see in SA (and a lot of other places, too).

And since Afrihost moved to MTN it seems like the IS backbone is faster than ever.

Like just about everybody else, except Cybersmart *cough*, WebAfrica and Mweb I think. Having their own network creates other issues and they still buy their bandwidth from an upstream provider. Mweb is the only one big enough to operate their own network reasonably well, but they're a bit pricey... and have you ever tried to call their support line? meh

Afrihost used to be on IS... now on MTN *cough*. Openweb and a few others are still on IS, too. From what I understand Imaginet operates on both IS and SAIX. So what exactly are you trying to say anyway, dewey?

Uhm no.... a bandwidth reseller is someone who buys accounts, add margin and resell to clients. Pretty much all the larger ISP's on IS have their own servers and dedicated capacity allowing them to create and manage their own uncapped accounts. Examples here are Afrihost, Axxess, Openweb etc.

Yeah, like when they billed me R5k for going over my cap, which they were supposed to enforce (this was some time ago though).

I have to agree with you. I grabbed 1 of those 5GB free promos, and I was well impressed.
I was playing abit of Black Ops online last night and it was super. Much, much better than my Afrihost capped.

So far I am very impressed with them. They are not afraid to answer questions, and answers to questions are straight forward and to the point.

They are on IS and have no intentions to change that. Throttling is based on a 5 star rating, over a 10 day period, which is as far as Im concerned a hell of a lot better than Afrihost's current QoS.

The only thing I don't like about their throttling policy is that if you do get throttled, it'll be 24/7, unlike the likes of openweb who pretty much only throttles during business hours.
