I am going to buy a iMATE JASJAM but before I do I just need your advise and comment. Does any one of you guys have experience with this Pocket PC? Any advise or comment would be greatly appreciated.

HTC TYTN II ftw.. if you can't afford one of those (most ppl can't @ R8600) then get yourself a 3G iPhone from America.. I read that they're selling standalone without a contract for $299

WOW, sounds great but how would I be able to get one to South Africa! BTW the JASJAM has EDGE, 3G, HSCSD and HSDPA which makes it a good buy i think. I agree that they can't be called "poket" PC's :D.

I know. It just depends on how much will be added to our good 'ol SA mark-up. I know vodacom will be bringing them in, as well as a few other e-tailers. I think it gets released 11 JULY worldwide, but 22 July for us.

Milano, I thought about taking the JASJAM on a Vodacom contract for R135 pm. Adds up to R3240 with free minutes and SMS's.

Was the JASJAM first released a few years ago? Not sure if I am thinking of the right one. Not a bad deal if it has 3G/HSDPA.

Yeah, JASJAM = HTC TyTN.

The iphone's going to be $199 and $299 for the 8gb and 16gb respectively - on a 2 year contract..and I bet not a cheap one at that. Everybody seems to be leaving that part out..

That hasn't been mentioned explicitly as far as im aware. It will be sold by other vendors as well though.(no contract) Price? no clue just yet.

EDIT: Yes before i get flamed i know there will be 2 yr contracts, but the phone should also be available separately. Also PAYG as far as i know.

Oh, thanks. I have the Imate Jamin but it doesn't have 3G. My upgrade is in August so I am thinking of getting the iphone or TyTN II.

You gonna have to pay in for the TyTN II hey.. even on a Talk 1000 contract the pay in is still 2k

Yep, I am on Talk500 so 2k. Still deciding if it is worth the pay-in. Also, hoping the pay-in drops by August.

Heard some bad things about iMates & battery life. Dunno if its true...but maybe worth investigating.

Without contract was ~$500 if I remember correctly.

With all that it does sound very appealing - go onto gsmarena.com and conpare it to your other options. READ LOTS OF REVIEWS.. i think thats very NB, see what other people think of it.

Don't just go with your gut instinct.. make sure you research 100% first :)
