I'm currently in the market for a new cellphone and frankly I need a new palmtop as well.

Basically it's a toss up between the Jasjar and the K-jam.

Both have their pro's and con's but I was wondering if anyone actually has one of these devices and what their opinions are.

Basically I'm looking at the K-jam for the simple reason that it is smaller. I saw a Jasjar yesterday and it was gigantic, I could never go out with that thing while the K-jam is somewhat more manageable if not still slightly thick. On the other hand it does not have 3G and the screen isn't as nice. Another worry would be the speed of the processor. Anyone tried Skype on a K-Jam? That would be a main requirement for me personally.

Any opinions?

It depends on your needs.

I have the K-Jam and (after several configurations), the K-Jam is really the better option. If you *really* need a phone to give someone permanent braindamage, you can consider going for the JJ.

If the JasJar had more memory and some really appealing features, it was probrably a better option. The K-Jam is relatively small and jampack with features.

Skype on the K-Jam is not really working in comparison with a normal PC. Although one can connect to Skype using GPRS / EDGE / WiFi, the voice quality is really not something to be proud of.

I've downloaded the beta version of Skype for PDA with 320Mhz processors. It works approx 40% with WiFi, but really not what it should be.

Speakerphone functionality used, exstremely noisy & slow. Don't think that the JJ will do a better job though...

JasJar has got a faster processor. If Skype is the main issue then JJ would be the better option to go for. As Phone / PDA functionality is concerned, K-Jam is perfect.

I'm so fu**ing mad at MTN:mad:

I ordered a Jasjar a month ago. When I was there to upgrade the phone was still not there. Then they ordered me one again because my name was not on the list. So I went back again today to found out whats going on.

When I asked them about the Jasjar the lady said I have to pay in on the phone.
On which I replied, yes, I know, R1700. Then she showed me the new price.
R5599 is the amount you have to pay in on the Jasjar now.

So I had to take the K-Jam for R1999.

Can you believe that?????????????????????????????????????????

I THINK I REALLY HAVE TO GO TO THE NEWSPAPERS WITH THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eina!!!

Having a girlfriend that works in the media I did try this move before and I can gurantee you that MTN doesn't really bother! I had endless troubles with these guys and they just don't care. Attitute: If you need the phone / contract, follow our new set of rules, otherwise you are free to go to the next provider...

After 2 mths with the JJ (unimpressed), I developed a new found respect when I bought a gps receiver and the handymap software...the sat nav works beeeeauuutifully on the JJ !! I've driven roads and shortcuts I never knew existed!
