Ster-Kinekor has announced that its next Imax theatre would be opening in Gauteng during 2015

Space isn't the problem. There will be no full 70mm IMAX cinema's in SA any more. They're all LieMAX. It seems to be a world-wide trend.

This is definitely one instance where digital is far inferior to analogue.

What is the point then? I dont get it. If the screen is not 3 stories high, but instead a normal cinema screen, then what is the point of paying more?

You're paying for the whole theatre experience ie. Broken/dirty seats, cellphones going off, noisy popcorn munchers etc etc
