An iPhone 7 was stolen. Find my iPhone picked up the device in Johannesburg central area after being stolen from PTA. Offline at the moment and the perp keeps on sending fake iCloud sms’s in the hopes of providing it so it can be unlinked from Apple ID.

If someone is to prove the device is theirs how hard is it to get information from the networks if there had been connection attempts with a specific IMEI number after blacklisting?
ITC present and CAS number present.

Its not so much about recovery of the device but rather the busting of these syndicates. Do police detectives even have ready access to such a system even for assistance with other crimes such as placing a person during a crime in an area?

If anyone from the cell companies or private detectives have information you are welcome to also PM me.

I'm going to sub to this but my experience is that cell companies couldn't care less about that sort of crime. My experience with MTN is that a phone I blacklisted was still active weeks later.

I mean legit if you have a valid case number and you can prove it's your device why is it so hard for them to simply say the device tried to connect to XX tower at ZZ time? That alongside Find my iPhone can help so much.

You should also try tracing this person, which will lead you to your phone.
Well, I have cell numbers for the SMS they sent. Even the fake iCloud links I looked up, WhoIS looks like it's in Russia the sites and the registration in California. But im certain that they pay iCloud phishers overseas.
