iMessage on iPhone 4S & 8ta PSB data SIM

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping someone can help with the problem I am having.

I have an iPhone 4S and the 60 + 60 data SIM which I use for calls as well.
Everything works fine except for iMessage.

It recognizes my Apple ID but will not activate on the phone number. I don't even see the number greyed out when you click on receive at.

My phone number is loaded under phone and my contact details is selected under my info.
It stays on waiting for activation then after a couple of hours or days comes back as activation unsuccessful.

Any suggestions?

Yeah I noticed the same problem with an iPhone 3GS on 8ta, which I gave to my sister.

If I place a Vodacom or MTN sim then it activates immediately. It's definitely a carrier issue. 8ta is looking more and more primitive! You cant even check your data bundle balance on the ipad under SIM applications. I had a "engineer" from 8ta come to see me today. He left scratching his head.
 
Does it not have something to do with roaming?

Also, I know it's not a solution, but why not use whatsapp in stead? I prefer it over iMessage.

I also prefer whatsapp, just got some older family that will not download whatsapp and prefer to use iMessage.
I contacted the call centre again yesterday to find out why there is no wifi hotspot option on the new iPad and seems I finally got through to an intelligent agent. He said 8ta does not have a carrier agreement with apple therefore those functionalities are not available on the new iPad and also that's the reason iMessage will not work on my cell number.
