Impala rams rider

It happens but what can you say...
At a vet's tour at Suikerbosrand last year, a nyala collided with a rider and broke his hip (the rider, not the nyala :))
 
Is it just me or is that article really badly written?

I also see she was leading the race, so how does one explain this following part if she was the first rider past the Impala Ram?

"I don't doubt that the buck acted purely on instinct. If I listen to how it is being described, I would say it was more like panic."

"With the riders who kept riding between him and the rest of the herd, he was probably standing in the bushes and getting jittery."

"With every second, the buck became more panicky until his fear got the upper hand."

"He probably took a leap blindly. Unfortunately, he didn't jump high enough and hit a rider."


I'm just feeling grumpy because of this poor weather :P
