Hi guys.

I want to buy a laptop from the UK.. How much are the import taxes? I read somewhere that you only pay 14% VAT... No customs duty etc.

Is this true??

I've also recently posted a thread regarding importing from eBay, and it seems like you have to pay 14% VAT on 110% of the retail value.

eg. if you buy an item of $1000, and it costs $50 to ship, where the exchange rate is R6.6/$, then you'll end up paying a grand total of: ($1000 * 1.1 * 1.14 + $50) * R6.6/$ =~ R8*606.40

You can get the store in the UK to remove UK tax as well.
