Import duties on lenses

Sorry if this has come up before, but I need to buy a Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 lens.
As the local prices are way out of kilter with the USA and elswhere, I am looking to import a copy.
I know that all imports are subject to 14% VAT but does Customs impose import duties on camera lenses, and if so how much?

VAT and clearance fees only for lenses.

Only VAT on 110% of the value. You may also have to pay clearance fees.

Thanks for the replies. I have been saved the hassels as I today bought the lens I was after - Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 at a very good price. That now completes my wish list of lenses for my new Nikon D700. I am going to enjoy the FX format.
