i am currently living in london and bought a tv for around 400 pounds. Can anyone tell me if i return home in dec next year how much my import duties and vat. will be and what would be the best way for me to bring it home?

just check with the SA Embassy what your rights are as a returning resident - you should be able to bring in most of your stuff without having to pay duties etc, depending on how long you've been out of RSA. Then get a shipping agent or three to quote you for the transport, either by sea or air
 
I dont think u need to pay anything on used appliances. i know a lot of people who moved back from living overseas who stacked their shipping containers with everything they could find thats cheaper there than here. Afaik none paid any import taxes. Although i think the technically should have on new stuff they bought to bring back, but thing u bought and used there is not taxed afaik.

u could do airfreight or sea freight, sea = cheaper but takes long. guess u could book it as cargo while ur flying, but that would probly be very expensive and then customs might give u issues here. thats if it makes it in one piece.
