Anyone know whats going on with online shopping with regard to the choices we have for imported good?

I have noticed Takealot no longer support Amazon imports and a host of other shops have reduced their offerings on a range of products from DVD's to tablet and phone cases, for example I was looking for Breaking bad seasons 3+ as well as Case-Mate and Otterbox cases had had a much harder time finding anyone with the items listed than I did a year ago when shopping for my previous phone.

Do what many of us have been doing since the 90s. Self-import. It's almost always CHEAPER, even with VAT/Customs charges. It's just as safe, and often the items get to you in a shorter period of time. You can usually find stores which will ship to you in South Africa, using insured air mail or EMS. Ebay and Amazon Market Place are two good sources of goods but also try a froogle.com search for the item you need.

DVDs, CDs, Blurays and games are easiest to import. Almost every large foreign store will ship CDs/DVDs to SA.

I use these guys now http://www.postbox-courier.com/ works brilliantly, and if the supplier is full of nonsense about my credit card being in SA and them shipping to UK, I then use Entropay.com to get a UK Virtual credit card.

Postbox-Courier also have a US delivery address.
