Person your credentials are not exactly top-notch with lots of users with regards to:

A)Banning at Prophecy (before you sold stuff AND you claimed you had a Ferrari for your 18th or 21st birthday + claiming you got a PC component before ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD)

B) The Digital Planet Saga.

ummmm jeeva actually spoke to the guys on iRC and told us to post our feedback about the site? Somebody asked if anybody used the site, we replied....

I guess nextime i'll buy from WWW.DOTCOMPUTERS.CO.ZA
no problem guys, it is just fairly strange to see 3 new members posting about the same thing at the same time, it was obvious that somebody has coordinated/triggered that, and I will sleep much better now, once I know were that come from :D

I really think that the idea of having such import on demand site is great given the ridiculous prices of the stuff here.

Few suggestions I would like to make are:
1. give more info about the duty on the most frequently imported stuff on the site rather than providing just a link to the external site, which seems to be quite confusing and has 95% stuff that nobody will ever import that way anyway :)
2. Give some examples of total cost for importing popular stuff.
3. Give list of most popular/cheap sites for shopping (and rate them)
4. Provide information about the warranty policies different companies have in regards with electronics (for example AFAIK Denon will warranty support product bought overseas, while Sony will not)
5. Provide buying tips (like were one can get discount vouchers etc), popular product lists etc.

OK, anyone who wants the *proper* version of why he was banned, PM "Firestar" on this forum (he's the admin). Unfortunately you can't see the thread 'cause it was locked and/or deleted + they changed to VB for their forum.

Um, no thanks. What I say is truthful.

I know DP is not related to DOT.IT but you are related to DOT.IT and therefore your credentials have gone down because of the DP saga.

errr.. the business has been going for almost a year now, word of mouth, try reading the info on the site.

and other thing is, i've put up a load of banners all over.

Site was started to push the online market, we have a massive offline client base. Think before you post

I import direct myself for my bussiness
Some more tips.
Register the company as Importdirect CC and put the CK no. on the site
Get a bank account with the name Importdirect CC and put the details on site
Get a vat no and put on site.
Set up a proper paypal like system where the transfered funds is save and not released untill goods payed is fully paid for and delivery confirmed ok. (third party)

Not that you are not trusted, we do not know you and paying funds in a personal account can be dangerous. Anything can happen and then the Payee have no recourse legally.
The rest of the idea seem to be sound. The main saving here is the shipping costs if you can combine and have agreements with shipper overseas. To get a local account shipping forwarder is madness, I just receieved some new costs today. They are like Telkom if not worse.

...

You guys are sooooo quick to judge, yeah it was my first post but i've been a member since 03-10-2005, it's not like I signed up to talk some crap I don't know anything about :o

This is just the only thread i've felt the need to add too.

n1c what was the total landed price of the harddrive and what was your saving compared to buying it locally?

I bought an EVGA (probably the best make) 7800gt pcix, it cost me R2950 to my door. I think the cheapest you can get here is around R3400 for a make that can't compare to EVGA.

i will be the guinea pig

ill buy something small and see what happens ... been looking for that stubbs game for some time and i see btgames no more have it listed ...
