Importing Blackberry Bold 9900?

Okay, so I want to import a Blackberry Bold 9900 from either the UK or USA. I have been looking at eBay but I might look at some other websites too.

Will this phone work locally if I import it?
What added costs are there when importing a phone?
Is is worth importing?

I know that it is released locally but it works out cheaper to import. Atleast on face value.
