Enter your physical address and try again, for some reason they don't allow PO Box address as they they ship via DHL and not via usps/sapo, although I have read posts of others using the usps method in the past...

I ordered a Kindle in Dec and received it via DHL.. Also you need to check the item as there are some items that are only for the US market and they don't ship to other countries..

I think if the seller is Amazon themselves then it's worldwide, but if its other sellers then its US only..

There are also certain brands/items they are not allowed to ship to South Africa.

I recently had some things delivered from Amazon to a friend in London, he then sent it to me via royalmail. I then had to pay a bit of VAT at the Post Office when I collected.

Did you have to pay double vat for London and ZA??

It's actually quite surprising how much stuff Amazon will not ship to SA, when you start digging. Kindle e-reader owners are well aware of the fact that we can't access many of their 'free' e-books, and 'foreigners' are also not allowed to pay for and download the games for the Kindle, for copyright reasons. So we're still nowhere near having that fabled 'global marketplace'.

the import duties will probably be quite high for this, dont forget to take that into your costing also

If you're looking for dj midi controllers, check this out:
http://www.soundz.co.za/c1073/DJ-Controllers.aspx

They've got the Xponent for a great price at the moment. I payed almost R10k for mine.
There's a few good looking Numark options on that site as well.
M-Audio/AVID/Numark are also a much better brand than Hercules.

Enjoy.

I have used the RMX and it's REALLY nice, that's why I want to go with the DJ Console 4-mx. I tried the Numark and AA controllers, but AA was to expensive for what you're getting and Numark just felt a little to cheap. The knobs felt like they wouldn't last long. The other controller i was considering was the Verstax VC-100 / VC-300 / Typhoon, I have tried teh VC-100 and I like the feel of the jog wheels. Only thing is, it's not really compatible with Vitual DJ 7 (my prefered DJ software).

I think I will probably just go with Take2. I've shopped with them before and I liked their service.

VAT = 14% which is about R600

import duties wont be more than R300 (I paid R260 for a similar item that was R3500)

Hi

I tried ordering directly on the Amazon site but they said it can't be shipped to my address. Is there anyway I can get this product here for cheaper?

Try logging on to http://www.amazon.co.uk/

and purchase your goods there... they seem to have less "delivery" issues than the US site.

The issue was that Amazon -US stated that they could not guarantee delivery through SA Post Office due to theft and corruption.

I bought my Kindle that way , no issues. :)

I ordered an iPod Touch 64GB 4G and 4 Bluray music DVD's from Amazon US. I have a myUS account. The whole process of importing came to R3200. Not bad at all seeing the iPod alone in SA costs R3999 and the DVD's are nothing less than R250 each.

It's not the retailers to blame though. It's all these stupid laws out there as everybody wants to make sure they get their cut.

I've used them plenty of times and they're okay.

The positive:

They've been around for a while and you can confidently hand over your money to them.
They will pay the American based supplier on your behalf taking only 3% commission if EFT'ing from your local bank.
You have access to just about any item sold in the States.

The negative:

Their shipping rates are astronomical (only makes sense if you import many items at the same time). To give you an idea, shipping something that was a volumetric weight of 5KG (a motherboard) will cost you over R800.00.
If you pay with a credit card the charges go up.
They make mistakes often and will never admit to it or attempt to rectify the problem.

that is true but it is because they use express insured private couriers with full online tracking.... if you used those companies (dhl/fedex) it would probably wok out da same or more....

usps regular/economy is a waste of time (lesson learnt) waited almost 2 months for a gpu from the states....
