Importing pre-owned/used equipment

Hi,

Does anyone know if importing used/pre-owned (vintage) equipment, such as a Sony Walkman WM-D6C would require an importation license for personal use? I know used stuff used to get delivered by SAPO/EMS, but do couriers require that?
