So mad.

We cancelled the telkom line a month ago as we have moved out, little did we know they actually didnt cancel a damn thing.

I go into Telkom in Cape Town CBD, they say i have to call, i cant cancel in store.

For the the past 3 days, i have trying to get through to cancellations. literally impossible, as i am typing this, i have been on hold for the past 45minutes.

Any help or suggestions :(

Put it in writing - provide all details and cancellation date. Sign and make a copy.

Hand over to person in Telkom shop and make them sign your copy. Make sure they print their full name as well with the time and date received.

By law they MUST process it.

What he said at least you know they can at least read when you post it on Twitter, so better chance of things happening.
I use the twitter route, get results every time.

I posted about it somewhere here a couple of months ago. But be frickin careful dude, long story short we 'cancelled' and ended up with collection agencies phoning us and all the stress that goes with it. We even had the persons name we dealt with initially and the call times etc.

They are dirty underhand cnuts. I feel for you.

Edit. In short get names of who you talk to add keep a note of call dates and times.

I had the same problem many years ago. I moved out and the new tenants got a phone line for free. Somehow until that point if I paid late they would cut me off within a week. After Ive cancelled? 3 months. 3 fikin months of calls all over south africa and to the uk. I try and open a new telephone contract 6 months later and they try and slap me with a 20K bill + penalties. Fortunately I sent the cancellation via fax aswel (yea this was the 90's) and I produced it and told them to fsk off. Apparently they could not cancel because I still owed them money (about R300).

Ja neh, I know this story all too well. I'm just thinking what if we go to the nearest police station and sign an affidavit to confirm cancellation and attach it to the cancellation form and email every single telkom address possible? Think this could work?

Same thing here.

What i did was go into a telkom direct store and did the cancellation there.

They apparently only did the order on the 14th (Sent on 24th of Sep) They said i musnt pay the account till i get a final account. Not paying for a full month. Remember go into a telkom direct and get them to stamp the cancellation proof.
