Improved ICT access can boost Africa

What UTTER Rubbish!!!

I am at a loss for words for governments shameless duplicity and indecision. On the one hand they say:

ICT had helped propel South Korea from a developing nation, which in 1960 had a GDP equal to that of Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon, but within 30 years had grown to become one of the eight richest countries in the world.

Heck, they even go on to say:

He said South Africa’s policy environment must be able to foster foreign direct investment, while the country’s ICT regulatory framework must ensure reduced costs and ensure secure networks.

Yet recently, given a GOLDEN opportunity to breath some life into this vacuous fluff, government goes out of its way to COMPLETELY scupper the KT/Telkom deal, something which I'm sure would've radically transformed Telkom, our telecoms landscape and ALL of our lives.

This is shocking, disgusting double-speak and these spineless, slithering politicians need to be ashamed of themselves for lying through their hissing teeth...makes me sick!!! Vitsek!!!!

Unfortunately, what government say and what they do are complete opposites.

Improved access to the internet and other information and communication technology (ICT) can help Africa to meet its social and economic goals, says Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.

No shet, Sherlock.

Doesn't sound impressive at all considering that the Colpad 2 with similar specs to the low end Afritab but with Android 4 is available for R1299.00

With the proliferation of tablet hareware is it even sensible to work on hardware. Shouldn't the effort go into how tablets can be used effectively for existing and new purposes, but there African governments, businesses and regulators are propbably our worst enemies.
