Say goodbye to bad cell signal

Two types of network hardware can help South African households and businesses improve their cellular signal in remote areas with limited broadband connectivity options.

MyBroadband was recently approached for advice on these devices for a Limpopo farm with minimal MTN signal available at its main house.

(Cough, Cough) - a SOUTH AFRICAN born 'entrepreneur' - who also just happens to be THE RICHEST MAN ON THE PLANET - has ALREADY produced a viable solution to this problem - but, due to the cANCer & their BB-BEE 51% ownership law, this technology is NOT legally available to residents INSIDE SA's borders - although it IS available in most of the other SADEC territories...

Well It'll work if there is reception, and the service providers do maintenance, and care about their customers. We're regularly without one of the two main providers here, mostly due to them not keeping their infrastructure maintained, and unwillingness to accept customer complaints.

They just launched Direct to Cell as well... Allowing you to send/receive texts anywhere with a open view of the sky. Starlink will be the only satelite provider that will be doing this.

What I didn't mention in the story is that the farm actually has Starlink...but needs to turn it off for four days every month to bypass the continuous-use rule for Starlink Roaming.

That's quite a BIG omission there - Maybe a quick meeting between Cyril & Elon will possibly help resolve this bureaucratic impasse... ;)

Thats an interesting tactic. I just entered my 3rd month of service in a row (without any funny tricks).

Do you mind sharing how long they have been using that four-day technique? Or is that the time required to get to the originating country & back?

I emailed the Secretary for the Communications Minister (18/11/24) on clarification around what the hell is going on. She acknowledged my email on the 5th of December, asking her colleagues to help me.... Crickets.... She then asked a bunch of different okes on the 12th of January, still crickets....

I'm starting to wonder if she's the only person in the whole department.

Do they work??

Only thing I trust and has working is the ones from poynting.
+1 on Poynting.

We've had a bank 12dBi yagi at a client who has Fixed Cellular Terminals since 1999. To the best of my knowledge they've never missed a beat.

Pics of a Teltonika RUTX11 with a roofrack mounted Poynting taken during a build for a client. The client chose the RUTX11 over their 5G units as the places he goes don't have 5G.

It works amazingly well.
