Yes it's alright, if you remember not to block the vents too much or use the CPU intensively. Actually much nicer than any previous laptop in bed.

Sometimes use a belkin cooling pad that i bought for my HP but its not as effective on mac considering where the battery is on a HP.

My HP lappy gets really hot. Especially when turned on....

My MB gets extremely hot if it's on the bed - but you can hear the fans spin up, so then i give it breathing space to cool down. I left the power pack under the pillow before and it overheated and shut down. Make sure your power pack gets ventilation.

Depends what I'm doing ...

If I'm using the lesser GPU and just watching movie, or light stuff, it doesn't get hot. If it's on the hardcore GPU, it becomes possible to fry eggs.
