I did the OTA update without backing up anything and it worked fine. On my iPad, though - it might be different on an iPhone.
 
I've been trying to do an OTA all day but it's timing out. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and download it via iTunes. :o

Cant wait to give iPhoto a spin.

No but maybe that was because I plugged it into the mains and it auto synced?

Ok - just plugged mine in and now it says 738MB :/

EDIT : Great ... iTunes doesn't know how to 'Pause' a download either - so starting a fresh again

bwana - does it replace the standard app, so the icon is gone?
 
It doesn't replace the standard photo app, but it does have access to your camera roll, so you can just ignore the standard one I guess.

The only use I can see for the standard photo app is if you use the photo stream to send your pics to iCloud.
 
What exactly has this update changed?

I have read what it changed but, really, this is the same old crap as before.

I want a screen button to appear every time someone shouts their mouth off so I can push it and shut them up!

The standard photo app is the front end for the camera roll and is also how you import photos if you use the camera connection kit. It's a core app so you can't delete it but you can bury it in a folder.

iPhoto is pretty darn good.
 
They should replace that standard photo front end in a new version ... it's very bland :/
