Hi

I want to connect my pc to our home tv. I have no idea of all the things I'll need.

Except a DVI to HDMI cable
and a remote for my pc (to control it ie. media center)

Ok so now what remote can I get to control my pc from the couch.

Also what audio connectors am I gonna need to connect the 5.1 surround to my pc?

Comments and links to good quality remotes would be appreciated :)

Thanks

I use the Logitech diNovo Mini. It's pretty cool except 1900x1200 res on a 40" TV is pretty damn small when viewed from the sofa. :o

A lot of modern graphics cards and motherboards have HDMI ports that'll handle sound/video out. Why don't you get something like that?

What sound system is it? Amplifier or some logitechs? Either way try use the optical out. New graphics cards do have HDMI outs, heck, even most motherboards with on board graphics will have HDMI outs. Next, your best best is a Hauppauge remote for controlling a PC.

Most people don't have a pc by their tv is all I be saying. Such as myself. Sigh. The joy it would be to not have to sit in a chair.

Note to self....move in with parents again so I have tv and pc in same room.

I use mine for XBMC, but only the arrow keys, OK & back key.... does not phase me.... besides there is a way to remap all the keys, if you can understand it all... (not me ;))

Ok so Ive figured out what Im gonna do.

First get myself an DVI to HDMI cable
then a cheap wireless mouse -+R190
and just connect my pc to my Logitech X530 speakers

Why not use my Home theater system. Well the only thing I cant find of connecting the two are stereo connectors so it wont give you true 5.1 clarity. So why hassle when I can just use my own speaker system. They might be small but that x530 can go really loud hehe

I've tried the remapping thing. Unfortunately the isonic does some really weird stuff and so remapping does not help. Essentially XBMC looks for simulated keyboard presses but the isonic sends out some other weird codes.

I just use a normal VGA cable from the PC to the TV. Onboard optical out from the mobo into AMP. Cordless Logitech mouse (these ones tend to have a long operating range)
