In Need of Javascript/JSON expert

Its a bank.
Well the pay per lines of code written policy was a Microsoft practice until they discovered programmers writing loads of BS to increase their take home.

So I'm never surprised where stupid policies are used. You got to admit, the only thing they're incentivising is team discord, and a sufficiently pissed off good programmer will either slow down or leave. I'm assuming you are on the regular payroll.

As a consultant I'd happily lap up additional work.

Bank caps the hours contractors are allow to claim for.

Best is to contract with fixed salary.

With that BS policy, I doubt I'd ever accept a fixed salary. With pay/hour I'm happy to put the extra time / effort in to chase timelines; fix salary = fixed output.

sorry about the assumptions; these type of scrum rules seem rather strange especially if either fixed hours or fixed costs are involved; that kind of puts undue stress on the senior guys; make up the difference in a shorter timeframe, but don't expect reward.

Is the cost not agreed on with your contracting house as a set fee thus no overtime.

Do time sheets?

I work for a contracting company and wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't worth my time

Nope... that I imagine is at least well positioned on the market.
Back to the weird practice: expecting others to take over deliverables surely creates some tensions, not only for the person who is expected to jump in, but also for the person who was 1st assigned this task (inferior).

Sadly used to this process.. And Jira doesn't track this ***** properly

The bank has two ways of capturing time. Per day or per hour. I capture per day (you cannot capture more than one day per day anyway) so basically log on and "1 + Tab" my way through the week and submit it. On the company I work for's time sheets I capture the real hours whether it was 7 (because Friday) or 13 (because release).

The private contractors coming through Highveld and M3 capture per hour and they've been told they cannot capture more than eight (I think) hours a day.

So if you want to take advantage of overtime or have it considered come bonus time, don't work by the hour. Not at the bank anyway.

That's different, because your recourse would be within that company i.e. the remuneration, a bit like my scenario, except I'm a independent contractor, so occasionally I negotiate my terms through a contracting house (probably similar to yours) and other occasions I contract directly with the client. In both cases it's up to me to set my terms.

The only bonus I get is either the one I give myself or the one I negotiate e.g. earlier delivery, within budget, etc...

This could probably be minimised by reducing the sprints + avoiding over allocation. Some things though just can't easily be split, but I guess those you would throw the way of the more senior guys anyway. Still strange either way.
