Bought myself a new PC last week and noticed that the Gigabyte motherboard has a two-pin header for the power LED cable but the Antec case has a three-pin power LED cable. The case cable is two strand and uses the outer pins (middle one free). Is it safe to cut off the three-pin connector and wire up a two-pin connector to hook it up to the motherboard?

cut the plastic in half and shave off the side so they fit nicely next to each other

dont chop any wires

dont know why companies still produce that stupid 3 pin thing

Good idea, didn't think about that one :) Although brand new, it's actually an older case that's now discontinued by Antec.

Why not get a small watch screwdriver (or small utility knife) and clip out the metal connectors, then put them back into the plastic holder in next to each other - I do this with a lot of cases...
