Hey guys,
Does anyone know who I can contact to get help with an incomplete port to MTN? I tried porting to MTN around this time last month but the port never went through successfully. After two failed attempts I was told to contact Vodacom's port department and ask them to release my number. I did that and eventually I was able to get them to release my number, but when I went back to MTN and asked them to try again, the port failed. Upon further investigation Vodacom discovered that because I was on contract I had been moved to some new system and would have to be moved back to their old system so I could be ported out, well eventually that was done but now MTN still gets the same technical error when they try to process the port.
I have gone in to a Vodacom Customer service centre where they confirmed that my number has been deleted on both their new and old systems and the onus now lies with MTN to complete the port. Is there any hope for me to recover my number and get ported?
Interestingly enough I can still call the Vodacom number switching service (082 129 9326) from my Vodacom SIM card but all other features (receiving or making calls and SMSes) have stopped working? Does that mean that to some extent I still exist on the Vodacom network and is thus the reason why I cannot port to MTN?
