Does anyone else have a problem with volume levels not at the same level when switching from one channel to another?

How do I fix this problem?

its a "feature"

i believe there is a setting where you can go and set the "default" volume for a channel, problem is, if you want all the channels at the same volume, you will have to go and do each channel individually!

will go and check again tonight...

Nah - I doubt that! for example, about a month or two ago MK was softer than all the other music channels, now its the loudest. Its got something to do with the broadcast if you ask me.

And it's more often than not on music channels, with some rap or bass-ridden music playing.

If your amp has dynamic volume control you can use that.
Plus the volume levelling feature is only available (if at all) on the HD decoder IIRC.

I worked it out about 2 weeks ago.
The changes that they have made to the software mean that ...

Each channel remembers the volume that it was last set to, and resumes at that volume when you return to the channel.

I lolled when I worked it out.

I will check tonight, but my volume levels are not usually set that high.
So I'll set eg. mm1 to zero, skip to mm2 and then back to mm1, and see what it does.

BTW, Thanks Dave, hope it works.

no way - even for the SD PVR ?

I doubt that they have different software for the PVR.

But, the PVR does record on the non volume affected "sound channel" so channel volume should never affect a recording.

Too many uses for the word channel in that technology.

+1 Same thing happened to me until I found the new setting in the menu.

What new setting Andy?
The default channel volume setting?
The one where you have to set the default volume for each and every freaking channel one at a time?
That one?

Please elaborate.

Have the HD PVR....volume is stuffed on channels....not only the HD PVR it seems....as it happens on my Moms SD PVR. Programs like series etc, volume is softer than when the adverts play. Pisses me off....cos each time adverts come on....have to turn volume down....then have to turn it back up when the series continues after the ad break. Sooooo annoying!!

So its the actual broadcast they are f#cking up....

Yes, but this has nothing to do with the topic.

My LCD TV has sound levelling, so I don't have that problem now - previous TV didn't have this and it was damn irritating, both on the channel flipping and the adverts.

Multichoice is just too lazy to get their hardware and or broadcasts right - remember that we are only paying for the service, so we're not really entitled to moan about it - the story of SA... :p *sarcasm*

Well the adverts are definitely louder on certain channels.

It is of course another "hidden feature" - wake up the damn sleepy head viewer so we can gather more advertising revenue.

Yes that one, the default channel volume setting.

Series channel was playing at max volume none of the other channels were. So I went into the menu and then went into the TV setup area (type in pin code 9949), and there's a menu that refers to default volume. Go in there and it'll list all the channels and u can set the volume for each one individually.

I'm recalling this from memory.

Edit: I thought this default volume menu was a new feature, I've never seen it before. Is it new?
