I took delivery of my Mifi device and Afrihost sim on Thursday, 29th of August. An Afrihost on representative on either the MyBroadband forums or twitter (I forgot which) mentioned that if you took delivery of the device before 1 September you in essence get a complimentary 5GB. Based on that, I burned through my 5GB's on Friday, 30th of August.

I tried connecting again on Tuesday, 3 September but couldn't. I checked the Afrihost ClientZone and it's telling my I'm capped and that I spent my cap on Tuesday (the day I couldn't connect at all).

Anyone else have the same experience?

I don't think it works like that, it was mention that the 5GB is for both September and October

You sure? I should try and track down the statement about the 'complimentary' 5GB. Just wish I can remember where I saw it.

Yip this is correct.

There was a report initially made on Facebook that the data would be renewed on the 1st of September, effectively giving you 10GB for deal, but it was soon corrected on Facebook, Twitter and here on the forum.

Definitely 5 GB from you receive the sim till end of September. The next payment is due 1st of October and that is when you will get new data.

Only option now is to buy topup or maybe upgrade to one of the other packages. I assume you will then get data prorata.

Thanks, I unfortunately missed the corrections on both Twitter and MyBroadband (I don't follow Afrihost on Facebook) and would have obviously been more careful with my data had I seen it.

The point about their Client Zone displaying usage on the wrong date still stands though.

@OP

Go into your clientzone, upgrade to the 10GB mobile 3 which will give you just over 4GB pro rata for just over R40......

Then go back in and downgrade back to the mobile 2 5GB.......

This will effectively give you 4GB until the end of the month and then you will be on the standard 5GB for R147 from 1 October again....

Empty is empty?

Not sure I follow?

Thanks for both suggestion but Afrihost is for the moment only my backup 3G connection until MTN can improve their coverage at my house. I have a Telkom Mobile 3G connection I can use for the rest of September.

Hi martin

Sorry about the confusion here, the data is/ was valid from when you received the device until the end of September.
Regarding the incorrect usage dates, could you drop me a PM so I can take a look?

Sent you a PM with the details

@martin there was a lot of confusion about this at first. We were all informed that data will reset begin of the month but that is if you received your data in the month of September not August. Since Afrihost had over 8157 to delivery by 6th September instead of the initial 1000 and they couldn't meet the target deadline on time.

Would be unfair to those that received their MiFi in the month of September with less data.

Just take advantage of the upgrade process pay R41.60 You will receive 4.00 GB additional data pro-rata, then downgrade.
