Hi all.
I had a thought...since telkom is incapable of increasing adsl speeds to international standards cant we devise our own software to link adsl lines? if four neighbors each with 4Mb uncapped adsl linked up wireless routers that a continuous 16Mb connection would be available between them and you could throttle your own connection if wanted.with options that critical information that needs low latency would use the private connection before the wireless ones...:D

If there is any advanced software developers that want to give this a try.

1) Line bonding (can't remember the proper name) is not supported by telkom, but Vox Telecom do it (they call it Vox Fishbone).

2) Its not a case of software. Its a case of building a router (with adequate software, granted) that can handle four lines at once, and have powerful enough wifi to service all four houses.

Or, you would need some kind of device that would bond all four routers (like a switch, maybe) and distribute all data equally.

Trust me dude, if it was easy it would have been done already.

No the idea is not to bond the lines.just to create a regular wireless network and to download different packets of data over different lines.telkom will never be able to determine if its done or not.they see different data going to different addresses they cant see after the data has been routed to the neighbors LAN.

the idea is cost free increased internet speed.maybe even internet over WAN if there is a big cluster of adsl users close together

You taking about a WUG ? Only time this idea will help you, is if you do downloads and break them up , like news servers do .. won't help nothing with streaming vids or gaming.

Even torrents will struggle, because they work on a one IP principle. You ever looked under the "peer" list on utorrent? You will see what I mean.
