Hi guys,

ok so here's my question,
about a month ago, due to the lack of a better offer in my area, ( cable jerks)
i got a LG LHD-200 CMDA phone and subscribed to a internet package form my wireless provider.

I run a AMD Sempron 2200+, on a ASUS KV8X-X MB, with 512 MBDDR, 128MB nVidia FX5200, 80 GB HDD, etc.

The problem is , i installed the modem, a USB

LGE CMDA USB modem (on COM3) and it also installed this
LGE USB serial port on COM4

It works but the ISP advertised 156,3Kbps max transfer, and my max speed i can set for the COM3 port on which the modem is installed is 115,2 Kbps and thta's the maximum speed i get to, the downloads work at 14,4KB/s which is maximum.

My question is, is there any way to force the Maximum COM Port speed, coz right now i can't go higher than 115,2 in the Properties panel.

the LGE USB serial port on COM4 is set for max 128 Kbps (highest value there is)

Thanks

mib2k.

Com1-4 has a baud speedrate of 115200 or max 128000

Some people using a 56K analog, when they connect it says 115.2kbps (doesn't mean they are getting 115kbps connection though)

Baud rate and actual speed R 2 different things..

U are using a USB port, wich is either USB1.1 or USB2. USB 1.1 has a max speed of around 12mbps where'as USB2.0 has 480mbps thruput speed.

Your USB Device is simply creating a "virtual" com port for you to access the modem at.

Wireless technology is dodgy, and sometimes has a great lack of speed, due to signal quality or signal strength and tower problems.

Best advice, if you have a laptop move around the house to check for spots that give the best speeds (by running benchmarks ). If you have a fixed position pc, Try moving the wireless unit around, to either the left or right side of the pc. or maybe nearest to a window etc. While running a benchmark at each interval.

Try this as benchmark : http://www4.gam.co.za/connectivity/bandwidth.php

Hope this helps

so if i managed to install my modem on COM 5 or 6 would that allow me to increase the Maximum Baudrate speed?

it will probably work at the maximun speed as stated by your service provider. From the settings tab you can chane the speed up too 92100 but this won't be the actual speed.
