Hi guys,

I've been through the forum search and nothing quite solved my problem.

I have a TP-Link 8950ND [b/g/n] (It's in the living room), and my laptop [b/g] (Bedroom).
The thing is that my signal sucks, it randomly disconnects. The kitchen divides my room and the living room.

I need to solution that doesn't require cabling and where I won't necessarily need to buy a wireless n adapter for my laptop.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I've also looked at several options for increasing signal between my laptop and my router. Two significant ones which provided the best results:

If the Wifi Router's antennas are touching the wall or are very close to a wall, pull the router away from the wall. The same goes for the laptop. increased my signal by two bars just doing this.

PCFormat had an article on this and they actually had a template for a paper wifi booster on their DVD, just cut it out, stick where it says to form a semi-circular dish shape and slip onto the antenna of the router and aim it in the general direction of the laptop. Worked wonders for me

Thanks stroebs. I'll try it out. Also, add some foil...apparently it helps.

Another option is something like the Dlink DAP-1150.

Has a simple setup, can act as an access point, or a wireless repeater.

All you need is a power point for the unit, position it where the signal is fairly good still, link it to your existing wireless signal from its admin page, and your range will be far better!

Installed one for a mate within 25 minutes.
