Index tracking/ETF RAs?

I'm going to get one this upcoming week for an RA, just to make sure I know what costs are lurking!

Please let me know. I'd request a copy myself, just to see the small print, but not keen on them then having my contact details... :) If you're considering doing it then no issues for you.

That 10X looks really interesting. 6% max on any individual share is also nice as otherwise you end up way too heavily skewed towards resource shares. I like the concept and would seriously consider it for my compulsory pension contribution if it becomes available on my provident fund. On the other hand for additional money I am not that interested due to it being only 75% equity. I still have 30 years work ahead of me so I am happy to go 100% equity with extra cash.

Do you not think the only way for Resources is up?

Hi you may be more interested in going with options on an index. They move with the index and if i remember correctly you can trade a all share top 40 one on the standard bank investment website. They have in the low thousands and one in the twenty thousands. Think it has a multiplier of about 7 or 8 havent check in a while. So you will have a amount that is directly related to an index. Problem is you can end up losing more money than you have invested so need to make sure you put stop losses in place. Otherwise the trading costs are pretty minimal compared to going through a broker. I am sure the other banks will have similer products on there investment sites.

I'm not aware of RA's that allow the use of Index Options as the underlying investment?

While my RA doesn't have options for directly tracking the index, I found funds that benchmark against resources and property indexes by the shares they hold. I switched to them in 75% and 25% and since last month happy with improved performance from the balanced funds they were in before. My work provident fund doesn't allow switching from standard life stage set portfolios.,

If you are looking for an index tracker, or exchange traded fund I know that Stanlib some very low cost options.

Just did a little more research. Unfortunately the Stanlib ETF's and index trackers are not available for RA's..

If anyone does get a quote please could I ask that you share it with me? I would love to have a better look at their costs.
What do you mean by "a quote"? I started using 10X about 5 months ago, I'm only aware of the annual fee (0.9%), I don't think there are even debit order fees.

Yup as far as I can see there are no debit order fees.. My 1st debit order went off this month!

Liberty's Evolve product is fantastic. Not much history but with 60% in an index tracker and 40% in portfolios of your choice, how far wrong can you go? They are putting their money where their mouth is too, offering 15% p.a return or no fees payable. They have taken in hundreds of millions of Rands in, in short space of time. They wouldn't offer this if they weren't confident they would achieve the returns stated and run the risk of losing out on the associated fees.
