India is Cutting Interconnection Rates Again !

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com...bile_tariffs_may_fall/articleshow/3158069.cms

Indian operators currently pay an interconnection rate of R0.05c per minute for termination of calls on inter circle networks.

National termination rates are R0.10c per minute.

TRAI wants to cut these down to R0.05 for National calls and R0.02c for inter circle Calls.

Inter circle is like the provinces we have in South Africa !

What went wrong in South Africa ? R1.25 per minute for interconnection ?

Icasa really needs a working holiday in India With TRAI !

ICASA are on a constant working holiday. I think they spend more time sitting having "meetings" at coffee shops in Sandton City than actually working.

100% Correct !

Trai still to come out with methodologies related to tariff cut
TT Correspondent | New Delhi | 01 Sep 2008

The wait for Indian mobile subscribers related to further drop in tariffs may be extended by some more time as the regulator, Trai said that it is still working on the methodologies to calculate fresh termination charges.

Trai said that currently it is examining various global practices to calculate termination charges.

Trai Chairman Nripendra Mishra said that after the identification of the proposed methodology for calculating termination charges, a consultation paper will be floated with view points of various parties to be taken and then the regulator will submit its recommendations. All these may take about 2-3 months.

I wish ICASA could do it this fast !

We in SA have to wait 2 or 3 years !
