Indoor Volleyball Question?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080513172625AAiT3Jy

I was so interested I went to find out :)

It looks like there are different rules for these guys - not necessarily the shortest but classified as the 'libero' of the team, they guy that is the best at passing and defending (not at the net though). So its a means for the referee to check that this guy keeps to these specific rules for liberos.

What is a libero in volleyball?

A libero is a special defensive specialist. They're the one's wearing the different colored jersey. Depending on whether you're playing club or high school depends on whether they can serve or not. In club they can't serve, in high school they can serve. They can go in for anyone in the backrow whenever, as long as they come back out for the same person.

can i play?
a LIBERO is the best passer on the team... they play middle back, and they sub in for the middle blockers when they are backrow...they cannot serve in club or in high school season, but in college ball they are allowed to....they do not require using a subsitution, and can go back and forth with both middles...the only thing they must not do is play front row...this is illegal and the referee will call your team out of rotation and give the other team a point...to be a libero, you should be short, fast, athletic, and motivated

LIBERO (volleyball player)

The libero is essentially a team's best defensive specialist, or backrow player. They wear a different colored jersey so that referees can recognize them easily. Liberos do not need to go through the normal substitution process. Instead, they simply exchange with a player, but it must be behind the 10 foot line. In high school, liberos may serve, but in club they may not. Liberos are characteristically flexible, and one of the shorter players on the team.

The libero is someone who is a difinsive specialist they can go in for anyone in the back row but can not play front row and you dont have to use a sub for it a libero wears a differnt color jersey than everyone else. a libero cant searve only in collage volleyball. the libero cant hit and get over the net no one can in back row. and that is pretty much it

a libero is normally your best defensive player. they wear a different color jersey so the because they run in and out the entire game. they don't sub in or out so the ref needs the different color so they know its not a sub. they also never serve or play front row.
i am a libero for my highschool team.

they are normally one of the best passers on the team and are not the best at front row..
liberos are only allowed to play back row and are not allowed to serve. they can go in for ANYONE. and as many time as they want

someone who subs in for people in the back row. they never serve, and are usually very good at passing, and digging spikes. they don't ever play frontrow.

a libero is a person who only plays backrow and necer serves. they can go in whenever for anyone in the backrow.......they should be the best passers but thats not always the case

They only play backrow and they are usually the ones who are best at digging spikes and passing to the setter.

steve_so...
The best passer.
kind of like the team captain. they are able to be moved in and out of the game at any time but they can only play on the back row.

it was a question i pondered while watching the ladies of italy play.

my question regarding indoor volleyball is why dont the ladies dress the same as the ones playing beach volleyball:confused:

i am saddened by the fact i missed the beach volleyball yesterday. truly sad.
