I had an induction cooker (Snappy Chef) that worked really well, until I killed it. It was on top of my conventional hop and I turned on one of the plates instead of the oven. Induction cookers, it seems, don't like to be cooked. :(

Now I need a new one. I must say that I wasn't entirely happy with the Snappy Chef model. It was large, bulky and had loud fans (which made a horrible grating noise after being cooked).

Any recommendations for a free standing induction cooker?

Why not go for a convection microwave? You don't have to make space for a clumsy gadget, other than getting rid of your current microwave of course, and it does double duty.

Hi Zeb. sorry, there was a typo in my previous post that I have now corrected. I meant to say that I was looking for another induction hob, not convection.

I saw some in Banks Catering supplies- fairly thin stand alone units. They don't sell crap ones so you should be ok. Nothing heats faster than an induction hob.
