Fresh out of the Limpopo by-election in which DA secured an impressive victory by claiming 38% of the vote in a black majority ward, the party is now delivering the next political blow.

Well, it is nice seeing more people realize they gotta change their vote if they want to see change.

If DA got 38% of the vote, how much did the other parties (ANC I am more interested in) get?

ANC got 33% and COPE 27%.

For the Indunas ?

Sorry if its a stupid question, but I have never heard about the Bahananwa Indunas. Just tried to google them as well and only get Bahananwa Indunas and Democractic Alliance.

Induna means tribal councillor from days before all people were allowed to vote. They're just below chiefs.

Limpopo chiefs join the DA

The DA welcomed on Saturday several tribal chiefs from Limpopo as new members of the party.

Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille said she met and welcomed about 40 chiefs and elders around Maleboho, near Bochum, to the party. She said they had expressed interest in the DA.

"The people of Limpopo are still in need of basic services like water. Many are without those essentials that government is supposed to provide," she said.

Zille said under the right leadership the province had "great potential."

"We won a ward here recently and we believe our work and policies will speak for themselves in the province."

She was confident her party would perform very well in Limpopo in the national elections next year.

Problem is they are letting the dregs in.

The DA is changing and it has too as its already hit saturation point. I would rather have a ruling party that was built on good foundations even if it has dubious characters than continue to have a minority opposition that may be brilliant in principle but is unable to govern as it has too small a support base.

Anyway, DA has had much worst, they had really scraped the barrel years back when the allowed the Morkel brothers in.

The most important thing to me is that DA demands high standards of its public representatives. Which they seem to do mostly, though some bad apples are bound to get in. These chiefs have just become members, and will probably just help rally support for the DA amongst their constituents. That is good news any way you look at it.

DA is growing, there is no deniying it. I've posted some topic's about it. Everything from by-election growth in North West, membership increases in KZN, new branches being launched in Eastern Cape and now these developments in Limpopo. It is clear that a pattern is emerging where DA is making inroads amongst the majority across the country.

It is still at modest levels. But given time...

Yes, only a matter of time...

Zille: DA support growing despite intimidation
2013-10-05 18:26

Durban - Despite "lots of acts of intimidation" many people were still turning out for DA rallies in their hundreds, party leader Helen Zille said on Saturday.

"The intimidation remains the same and in many instances it's getting much worse, but what is new is that people refuse to be intimidated and that is really important," she said at the Ntuzuma community hall in KwaZulu-Natal.

Zille claimed that at two events earlier this week in the Eastern Cape, African National Congress supporters had attempted to prevent two DA rallies from taking place - one near Mthatha and another at Fort Hare University in Alice.

"The ANC is intimidating us more and more because they are scared that they are going to lose."

"They are very worried about the way the DA is growing, very worried indeed. The more worried they get the more intimidation we will see."

She said the DA would not back down in the face of intimidation.

The more the anc dehumanizes, intimidates and murders their own members and opponents, the more people will leave them and flow to other parties such as the DA...even if civil war breaks out, the flow will simply increase...
