Job Brief
Industrial Data Xchange is looking for an Industrial IT Engineer who will join a small team responsible for the technical support of industrial communication networks such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, MODBUS, EtherCAT and others at numerous locations around Southern Africa, but will be based at the IDX offices in Fourways.
Role Requirements
• Interpret customer requirements for industrial data communication assistance and to provide clarity on what is communicated so that all parties have a common understanding.
• To be able to suggest a solution using products and services provided by IDX or to assist them in redirecting their search where we are unable to offer a solution.
• Where an “off-the-shelf” solution is not apparent, to determine if the creation of such a solution is viable (both technically and commercially) and fits with our company strategy.
• Support the customer in configuring products so as to make the solution a success. The candidate should therefore be willing to familiarise themselves with these protocols and products.
• IDX provides product and industrial data communications protocol training and so the candidate, once having attended these courses, should be prepared and able to present them at a later stage. Excellent oral and written communications skills are therefore vital.
Candidate Requirements:
• Personal integrity and willingness to self-manage but contribute in team setting to the success of others
• Strong customer service orientation
• Technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
• Experience with automation systems such as PLCs, drives, I/O, sensors
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C# would be advantageous
• Understanding of Industrial communications protocols such as Ethernet/IP, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, MODBUS would be advantageous (we will provide training to fill any knowledge gaps)
• Good troubleshooting, analysis, and problem solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license and passport
Salary Range (guideline)
Junior: R300k-R360k
Skilled: R400k-R550k
